Director of Youth Ministries

Fair View UMC, in Mount Mourne, NC, is looking for a motivated and spiritually called individual(s) to help our growing youth membership deepen their relationship with Christ.  While all applicants will be considered, a young married couple dedicated to youth ministry would be preferred (part-time position).  Our youth group ranges from grade 7 to early college and is a very active group of about 30 youth members.  The  new Director(s) would be expected to organize and attend youth events at the church, retreats like SpiritUS, missions trips and projects, and fundraisers with a core group of dedicated parent/adult volunteers.  They should be well versed in social media, computer skills, and teaching in a Sunday School setting.  Applicants should be creative, outgoing, organized, fun and patient.

Director of Youth Ministries

Christ United Methodist Church, located just north of Asheville in Weaverville, NC, is seeking a part-time Director of Youth Ministries to lead and develop a vibrant Youth ministry. Director of Youth and College Age Ministries

Emmanuel United Methodist Church, in Memphis TN is accepting applications for their full-time Director of Youth and College Age Ministries. Emmanuel averages 400+ in weekly worship with participation of 25-30 youth. This is an exciting opportunity to join an innovative team dedicated to the spiritual growth of our youth and families.

Director of Youth and Children

Weaverville UMC, Weaverville, NC is seeking a Director of Youth and Children

Purpose: Facilitate and communicate with Family, Youth, and Children’s Councils, providing vision and guidance for planning, imple- mentation, and evaluation of programming. Empower the work of the laity on behalf of youth and children. Work with the Youth Council in implementing the Youth program.

Salary: $28,000 – $33,800 annually, based on qualifications and experience and as negotiated with Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) and Church Council. Plus, Health Insurance allowance in addition to salary. Eligible for 3% of salary retirement plan contribution after one year.

Evaluation: Yearly by Minister on/before July, with copy to SPRC

Work Hours: 30-40 per week, with mix of office, programming, special events, meetings, continuing education, and visits with youth/ families.

Required Meetings:  Staff meetings, Youth and Children Council, Church Council, and regular “check-in” meetings with SPRC liaison

Time off: as per Church Policy. Days-off per week will be flexible and depends on church schedule/youth activities, visitation, and night/ Saturdays activities. Work week is Sunday thru Thursday, vacation time is per Church policy.

id Holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King, Easter (Good Friday or following Monday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (two days), Christmas (2 days). If Holiday falls on weekend, it is taken as agreed with Minister.

Sick Leave: As per church policy. Major Duties and Responsibilities

In all aspects of this role, the Director of Youth & Children is expected to maintain effective and professional communications with church staff, church members and other persons associated with Weaverville UMC. Similarly, the DYC is expected to represent WUMC profes- sionally and positively in interactions with the larger community – including interactions on Social Media.

Lead and administer the Youth Program

  1. Prepare and present a Christian program for regularly scheduled Weave events for middle/senior high youth (Grades 6-8, and 9-12)
  2. Plan and coordinate youth programs, retreat, mission trips, tours, and other fellowship activities
  3. Encourage and build participation in activities designed for young people through various promotional efforts and personal relation- ship
  4. Visit youth and their families at home or extracurricular activities
  5. Encourage, train, and support youth leadership in the life of the church
  6. Encourage participation in youth opportunities beyond the local church such as district and conference events
  7. Serve as ‘sounding board,” listener and confidant to young people and Facilitate Children’s Ministries

Facilitate Children’s Ministries

  1. Work closely with Children’s Council and play a major role to implement programming for Children’s Ministry
  2. lay a significant leadership role for “major” initiatives such as VBS, Christmas Pageant, Children’s Sunday,
  3. Assist in recruitment of volunteers for children’s initiatives
  4. Facilitate church resources for Children’s council (i.e. making copies, reserving space on church calendar, )
  5. Assist in selection and procurement of age-appropriate curriculum for Sunday
  6. Coordinate schedule for nursery Serve as a liaison for them to children’s council.
  7. Work with pastor to provide opportunities for children to lead in worship
  8. Build, maintain, nurture, and facilitate supportive relationships fostering spiritual growth with children and family units associated with Weaverville UMC

Sunday school and Small Group Christian Education Opportunities

  1. Develop Christian Education opportunities for Youth (grades 6-12)
  2. Assist Children’s Council with their Sunday School efforts for children
  3. Produce any special event flyers, bulletins, etc. for promotion
  4. Assist Children’s Council in implementing Safe Sanctuary policy Qualification for Job

Degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience preferred United Methodist background preferred

Youth Minister

Buncombe Street United Methodist Church (http://bsumc.info), a caring faith community in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina’s vibrant downtown, is looking for a dedicated full-time Youth Minister. With nearly 3,000 members in this missionally focused congregation, this non-ordained position will be responsible for organizing and coordinating ongoing ministries that maximize 7th– 12th grade students’ growth as disciples of Christ, both in and outside the walls of the church, while building relationships with parents and equipping volunteers for ministry. Associate Pastor

Mineral Springs UMC in Monroe, NC is seeking an Associate Pastor

EXPECTATION: It is expected that each member of the MSUMC staff will worship regularly; will attend to their spiritual growth through participation in a small study group or regular devotional time and through the discovery and employment of their spiritual gifts; will give regularly in support of MSUMC; will pray for the ministry and mission of MSUMC; will participate in continuing education activities related to the appropriate areas of responsibility. Provides clear leadership for assigned areas in support of MSUMC mission. Additionally, as an appointed United Methodist clergy, the associate pastor will be actively involved in the United Methodist connection beyond the local church as appropriate.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provides leadership and direction for MSUMC middle school and high school ministries including program development and leadership; recruiting, training and oversight of volunteer leaders to enable successful ministries at the middle school and high school levels; youth community outreach and missions; management of related budget line items, and; other duties as appropriate.

Provides leadership for church-wide congregational care including counseling, funerals and grief care and visitation. Responsible for increasing lay involvement in congregational care activities church-wide.

Leads the design, launch and ongoing leadership of a comprehensive ministry to increase the number of persons in the 18-30 year old demographic in the Mineral Springs church community.

Performs all the duties of clergy in the United Methodist Church including preaching, teaching, baptisms and weddings under the direction of the senior pastor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the direction of the Senior Pastor

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Provides leadership for all aspects of the MSUMC middle high and senior high youth programs. Provides leadership for church-wide congregational care.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Master of Divinity Degree (either completed or in-process) or Deacon

Experience:   Ordained or with the expectation of ordination with 4 years

Skills: Strong relational skills both personal and via telephone; verbal and written communication skills; ability to multitask; flexibility; maintains confidentiality of sensitive information without exception. Connection with the theological position of Mineral Springs United Methodist Church. Demonstrated leadership skills in a variety of settings. Strong commitment to continuing education.

Knowledge: United Methodist Church doctrine, polity, and Scripture. Current on trends in youth ministry, use of technology and Safe Sanctuaries policy.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Serves on the MSUMC staff with primary responsibility for MSUMC youth ministry, congregational care and young adult ministry in support of the MSUMC mission

  1. Assists in developing and fulfilling all strategic objectives of MSUMC as adopted by the Administrative Council.

3.Responsible for setting goals; developing and managing budgets; recruiting, training and motivating lay involvement in youth ministry and congregational care in accordance with MSUMC mission.

4.Manages the MSUMC Safe Sanctuary program for youth.

  1. Fulfills requirements for Young People’s Ministries as stated by UM Book of Discipline para. 256.3.
  2. Participates in worship planning and worship as directed by the senior pastor.

7.Participates in local and global mission efforts (both youth and adult) to provide leadership and support for both the mission work and the members of the team as appropriate.

8.Shares general pastoral responsibilities with senior pastor.

9.Attends all Staff and leadership meetings as required and ensures that youth and congregational care ministries are represented on Administrative Council and other meetings as needed.
