Controller

The Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church is seeking candidates for the position of Controller.     This position reports directly to the Conference Treasurer and would be located in the Conference Office.    This is full-time, exempt position.

The position is responsible for the overall accounting processes and office management of the Treasury Services Office of the Conference, providing assistance to conference and district staff related to Treasury Service funds, budget accounting apportionments and financial information.   The Controller oversees all bank accounts (conference, benefits, districts and general church), and manages cash flow; prepares wire and bank transfers, reviews and approves general ledger postings of monthly transactions, including payroll, district petty cash reconciliations, all general journal entries, and amounts due between companies as prepared by the staff accountants.

Additional responsibilities include, preparation and processing all month-end and year-end closings, submitting financial reports to all appropriate parties of delegated authority,.   This Controller also oversees the semi-monthly payroll operation and processing including review of all payroll data, entry of employee information into ShelbyNext system, processing payroll on a semi-monthly basis, enrolling lay employees in the pension plan upon on-year anniversary, and monitoring all payments to Wespath (the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits).

A demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all matters is required.   Skills required include proficiency in Microsoft Office 2013 (Word, Excel, and Access); Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains Accounting Software, ShelbyNext Financial Software, ARS Church Accounting software, and knowledge of electronic banking procedures.  The candidate selected will exhibit proven attention to detail, excellent communication skills – written, verbal and listening.   A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, with 10 or more years of progressively responsible accounting/management experience is required.

Program Secretary

St. Stephen UMC, 6800 Sardis Road, Charlotte, seeks a Part-time Program Secretary, 20 hours/week/M-F, 8:30 12:30. Serves as secretarial support for various programs esp Youth, Children, Music, Recreation and program staff. Office Administrator

Salem United Methodist Church in Morganton, NC seeks an Office Administrator for part-time position (approximately 17 hours per week). The Office Administrator is accountable to the Senior Pastor and provides administrative support to the Pastor, other staff and to the congregation.  Applicant must have a commitment to and love for Jesus Christ.  Knowledge and appreciation of the United Methodist Church, its practices and teachings are highly desirable.  Previous experience in a church setting is also preferred.  A personal maturity and genuine commitment to Christian ministry that demonstrates joy for sharing one’s personal gifts, talents, abilities and interests through the local church’s ministry are key to success in this position.

A high degree of proficiency in Word, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, Quick Books/bookkeeping and church management software is mandatory. Administrative Assistant for Communications

The Uwharrie District of the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time administrative assistant for communications (10 hours per week, with flexible schedule to meet the needs of the District Office and the employee).  The purpose of this position is to support the District Superintendent and the Conference in maintaining communication of all relevant information in a timely manner to the Uwharrie District.

Responsibilities will include producing the weekly newsletter, ensuring timely updates to the District website, maintaining local user groups, and email lists to ensure communication is appropriate and timely to individuals and groups within the District.  This individual will also maintain contact/communication with candidates, clergy partners, surviving spouses, and all other clergy categories, and other office duties as needed.

Experience/training in newsletter development, website creation and maintenance is required, with the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing; pleasant telephone manner; able to think on feet when dealing with callers.   The ideal candidate will be proficient and keep up with updates of computer software, including Microsoft Office 2007 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Access (maintain database for mailing labels, lists, records for district reservations, certified lay speakers, etc.), Adobe Suite/Microsoft Publisher (newsletter, other brochures/flyers), and website management.

Church Administrative Assistant/Financial Secretary

Office Assistant

Lutheridge Camp, Arden, NC:  Part-time Efird Office Assistant shall be a person committed to Jesus Christ and the church and be dedicated to working in a church related organization. The main responsibilities relate to all areas of registration – including summer campers, adult/family programs, seasonal programs, and hosted ministry. This person shall be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and have excellent communication, organization, phone and listening skills.  The Efird Office Assistant shall have the ability to handle multiple tasks and complete tasks in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail. Custodians

Huntersville United Methodist Church (HUMC) is a vibrant, active church and we are looking for two part time custodians, someone for morning shift 7:00 am – 1:00 pm and someone for evening shift 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm, to clean, care, and prepare for our many ministry and mission activities.  Specific days will be negotiated at time of hire.

Applicants should be self-starters, conscientious and able to work independently. Responsibilities include safely lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, working on ladders, using floor buffers, and general cleaning and maintenance tasks. Knowledge of heating, plumbing and electrical systems desired but not required. Minimum qualifications include High School diploma or GED. Enthusiastic, energetic and professional work ethic. Team player, Warm-hearted. Strong customer service skills and the ability to get along with others are vital. Treat co-workers, congregation, visitors, and children with respect and dignity.
