Piano-Organ Accompanist

Position: Piano-Organ Accompanist (Part-time)

Provide musical accompaniment and leadership for weekly choir practices and all worship services. Assist the Director of Music and serve as a substitute director when required or necessary.


  1. Serve as primary accompaniment for Sunday worship services (8:30 am and 11:00 am) and all special holiday services outside of the regularly scheduled Sunday worship (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, 3 Christmas Eve services and a monthly first Thursday Night Prayer Service). Music will include a prelude, congregational singing, offertory, anthem, postlude and other special music as needed in a variety of styles/genres (Contemporary and Traditional).
  2. Serve as primary accompanist for weekly choir rehearsals. Includes collaborative accompanying for both choir/soloist, leading sectional rehearsals when needed, and accompanying extra rehearsals when necessary.
  3. Provide accompaniment for children’s choirs, teen choir, handbells and guest musicians when necessary.
  4. Serve as keyboardist for Praise Band (Contemporary Christian Music). Rehearses and performs on a monthly basis.
  5. Assist Director of Music and Pastors in preparation for worship services when needed. Includes providing transitional music between worship elements for seamless transitions, performing sound checks with musicians when necessary and/or serve as worship leader in the absence of the director.
  6. Assist in arranging musical coverage due to personal absence or the absence of the Director. This may involve assuming director’s role and/or scheduling a fill-in accompanist


Services for Weddings and Memorial Funerals are considered outside the bounds of the regular responsibilities of the accompanist position. The accompanist has the first right of refusal for playing in weddings, memorial services, or other events on a contractual basis.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate a personal commitment to the teachings of the Christian faith, and a desire for spiritual growth towards a Christ-centered life.  He or she will be punctual, prepared, gracious and flexible. He or she will also possess a strong background in music, and preferably a music degree.
