Director of Youth Ministries at Blair Road UMC, Mint Hill, North Carolina
We are searching for the right candidate to build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry (in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach) while serving as a spiritual leader and role model for youth grades 6 through 12. This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
Our educational requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years experience in leading a youth group. The position also requires the candidate to be a self-starter, able to work collaboratively with other staff members to execute the BRUMC mission, able to communicate youth activities to the congregation, and able to work with volunteers to plan a holistic youth program. If you have not taken these classes, within the first year of employment you would complete a class on John Wesley and Methodism.

General Responsibilities: Coordinate and develop age-appropriate Sunday am Small group curriculum for ages 6-12; Plan, coordinate and participate in Wednesday evening Youth small groups, Bible Study, discussions or other programming supporting the BRUMC mid-week activities; Plan, coordinate and participate in Youth Fellowship activities on Sunday evenings; Provide up-to-date calendar of youth activities; Support individual youth by attending sports events, performing arts events, or other activities youth participate in outside of church activities; Work in collaboration with the Director of Adult Ministries to develop small group opportunities for collegiate and young adults; Follow all Safe Sanctuary requirements; Serve as a resource for the Confirmation program; Work in partnership with the staff and Connection Team to effectively reach unchurched youth in the community and develop a strategic youth ministry outreach plan; Design, recruit and direct a Summer Mission Week for rising 5th and 6th graders; Collaborate to organize connectional activities to provide a bridge between the Pre-Teen Program and the Youth Program; Able to address conflict constructively in a biblical and professional manner; Occasionally participate in worship service leadership; Involve youth in missions and outreach; Encourage and provide avenues for the youth to participate in all aspects of the life of the church; Prepare and administer the Youth budget.
