As the heart of the home we provide for our children, Cottage Parents play a key role in The Children’s Home’s holistic philosophy of care. Cottage parents use a professional, team-oriented, and trauma-informed approach to support our children. Each cottage on campus is home to up to 9 children, with four Cottage Parents serving alternate shifts of seven days on/seven days off. The Cottage Parent position is a year-round position, living in a cottage with our children.
In a typical day, Cottage Parents help children get ready for school, oversee homework, provide meals, assign and supervise household chores, and create family life. Cottage Parents have the opportunity to significantly impact children’s lives as they help shape social, educational, physical, and spiritual development.
Training is provided in the Sanctuary Model of Care, parenting model, medication administration, First Aid, CPR, and more. Competitive compensation and benefits make a career at The Children’s Home an excellent choice for married couples, especially “empty nesters,” or individuals who want to make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
