Congregations4Children is transforming the lives of children impacted by poverty through collaboration with the public schools.

The four areas of focus we chose are:

• Poverty Awareness /Advocacy
• K-3 Literacy
• Basic Needs
• Family Engagement

2015 Summer Food Distribution Project
Who?   Community individuals with a heart and passion for children
What?   Volunteers to distribute free meals to children 2-18 years of age
Meals prepared by school system and distributed to designated sites
When?   Months of June-August when school is not in session
Distribute 5 days a week between hours of 11am-1pm at designated site
How?  

  • Contact school nutrition department
  • Offer volunteers to distribute food at a site
  • Receive site supervision training
  • Coordinate volunteers for food distribution on your group’s assigned day
  • Work with elementary school to identify where eligible children live
  • Collect and distribute free books to children at distribution site
