Faith UMC | Rise Against Hunger

For the third time in three years, Faith United Methodist Church in Indian Trail, NC plans to feed persons around the world with the help of our friends from Rise Against Hunger on Saturday, April 27. Church members, civic groups and friends from the community will pack more than 10,000 meals from 10 AM to 12 noon that day. Each bag will be filled with a scoop each of rice, veggie and soy protein and a vitamin packet. 

After being sealed and packed, they will be shipped to some of the world's hungriest people. Rise Against Hunger partners with trusted providers in the developing world that are experiencing war, famine, and ongoing needs. There the meals are often served in orphanages and schools. Serving such a nutritious meal creates an added incentive to send one’s children to school, helping to break the cycle of poverty. 

Pastor Matt Smith of Faith Church purposefully scheduled the meal packing for the Saturday during the United Methodist Church’s General Conference meeting in Charlotte. Matt says, “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate that United Methodists are FROM around the world and in ministry TO the world than this powerful event.”
